A beautiful, authentic and highly collectible vintage Sivas Gürün Cicim Kilim rug, hand-woven in the central-eastern province of Sivas, Turkey. Sivas is a famous, historic weaving province in central Anatolia, Turkey.

Sivas weavers traditionally weave their pieces in long vertical strip formats, using a combination of plain flat-weave and meticulous cicim brocading to add the tiny pixelated diamond filler motifs you see embedded in the tan and red tracks.

Official Turkish state export inspectors or regional guilds affixed lead security seals onto premium hand-loomed goods to signify successful customs clearance, material standards, and accurate region-of-origin tracking before leaving the country.

This piece was previously retailed by Anatolie Kilim, a highly regarded specialist rug boutique located at 51 Rue Dauphine in the historic 6th Arrondissement of Paris, France. Founded in 1992 by curator Enbiya, the gallery is famous for hand-selecting authentic, top-tier Anatolian flat-weaves directly from village elders and collectors in Turkey.
